There are some food items that may appear to be diet friendly however, on further review, they are not. Be aware of the following as they may pack on the calories or ruin your diet.

Vegetable chips. Come on, did you really think you could get away with eating this salty snack because of the word "vegetable"? The reality- maybe 5% of the proguct is actually some kind of a vegetable derivative. Read the label.

Soups. While many consumes can be diet-friendly, read the label. The best soups usually are the bullion kind however, keep in mind that many of these are sodium packed.

Low fat anything, including cookies. Something has to make up for the lack of taste from the fat removal and often that something is more sugar. Read the label.

Vitamin drinks, juice boxes and fruit juices. Key word is "fructose" and it's probably the number one word used on the label. Fructose is sugar.

Healthy grain based snacks such as bars or cereals. Read the label an note the location of any kind of sugar on the ingredients.

Cereals. Ha! We've all been fooled. Everything they tell you is per serving. 100% of the vitamins they sell you on, the filling flavor, the ability to help you live longer. Check the individual box to see how much is in a serving. Shock- it could be anywhere from a quarter cup to a cup an a half. How many cups are in your breakfast bowl?
