Watching your diet when it's the holiday season

Many of us seem to want to give up on our diets during December with the intent of picking up in January. With the cold weather and the recession, there are added stresses.

Here are some tips to remember.

Go easy on the booze. Not only does it have calories but, booze brings on the munchies.

Make your goals realistic to you and your lifestyle. If you never weighed 110 lbs don't pressure yourself to get there. You'll be making it too easy to give up.

Don’t give up just because you drifted once. Simply get back on the diet trail.

At your family gathering try focusing on the people there, what they are talking about and how they are eating. Whatever it takes to take your mind off of the cheese and crackers sitting there.

Good advice, especially about going easy on the alcohol. I fully concur.
An interesting idea about focusing on what others are eating in order to divert your own (possible) desire for food.
